The Solutions Are Nearly Endless
There are many acne solutions to heal acne vulgaris. Every teen’s nightmare is waking up with the big pimple on his or her cheek the day of prom, but the good news is there are many ways to not only treat pimples and acne, but also ways to prevent it. Acne treatment comes in various forms. One can purchase topical treatments, antibiotics, isotretinoin or oral contraceptives over the counter or from prescriptions. There are also cosmetic and laser and light procedures that help with acne. The first treatment is the one everyone tries first, topical treatments. This includes face wash, lotion, on the spot treatments, etc… anything found in the face wash aisle at the local drug store. Many of these items work, but not for severe acne. When purchasing these be sure to look for benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, resorcinol or salicylic acid as active ingredients. These ingredients are what fights acne. Some face washes and lotions do not contain these to be sure to read the label. Stronger lotions and face washes are available through dermatologists.

Another acne fighter is an antibiotic. Antibiotics only come from the doctor, but they reduce a bacterium that causes acne and fights inflammation of the face. It is also considered a topical treatment and is used for moderate to severe cases. The next treatment option is isotretinoin. This is used for deep, painful cysts. It is by prescription only and is used only when nothing else works. This medicine can have extreme side effects so only select people are allowed to use it. Aside from over the counter treatments and medicine there is laser and light therapy. The laser and light beams reach deeper layers of skin without damaging the skin. The laser makes oil glands produce less oil and the light therapy targets the bacterium causing acne. The final acne solution treatment is cosmetic surgery. Chemical peels and microdermabrasions reduce acne, but work best used with other procedures.
Aside from actual treatments for acne solutions, there is prevention. Prevention does not always work, but if helps to lessen the amount of acne. Oil, bacteria, dirt and dead skin cells cause pimples. Keeping all this from the skin will reduce the amount of acne. Be sure to wash the face daily. Use over the counter or prescription produce in the morning, at night and any time sweating occurs. Sweat is a big cause of acne so be sure to free the body of it as soon as possible. Keep hair and oily products off the skin and do not touch the face. Avoid exposure to chemicals and oils of any kind. Following these tips will help lower acne and raise confidence.
